Thermal Tanks

The most unique “Thermal Battery” in the market.

  • Patented. Made in USA. ITC compliant. Extended operating life. Minimum maintenance.
  • Smart Hot Water. Our Thermal Tank provides dispatch amounts and is sized to recharge faster than it discharges.
  • Totally configurable. The use of the Thermal Tank allows for the reconfiguration of energy sources.
  • Lower Cost to Operate. Designed around the customer wanting quality hot water on demand, in the amounts required, and at the temperatures required. Our Thermal Tank(TM) provides dispatch amounts and is sized to recharge faster than it discharges. It results in considerably lower cost of hot water.
  • Superior insulation. R=18 energy retention value for our 350 gallon tank is industry leading
  • Longevity and Sustainability. 25-30 year lifecycle exceeds conventional tanks by a factor 2-3. All materials are easily separable and fully recyclable.
  • Corrosion Resistance.  All essential components of our standard tank are corrosion-free: EPP foam, TPO roofing membrane, PVC liners, and Nylon heat exchangers.
  • Customizable. The top-entry customizable manifold can accommodate a variety of thermal sources, including Heat Pumps, PVTs, and Desuperheaters (utilizing waste energy), resulting in 3 to 4 times more efficient operation than conventional water heating systems. The Thermal Tank allows other system components to be reduced and optimized, realizing significant capital expenditure. The use of the Thermal Tank allows for the reconfiguration of energy sources to meet new building and environmental standards.
  • Modular design. Comes in 3 sizes, from 350 to 700 gallons. No part weighs more than 15 lbs. Use in small areas, no door size is a problem, and no need for a crane.
  • Easy to install. Made entirely of engineered, advanced plastics. It’s lightweight and you can install it anywhere: on the roof, ground, inside, outside, or even buried. Installation in Difficult-to-Reach Spaces – Our tanks can easily be installed on rooftops without cranes or rigging. Easily fit into tight mechanical rooms and utility basements.
  • Efficiently shipped in components and installed on-site. We don’t ship air.
  • Easy scalable. You can use multiple tanks daisy-chained to expand the energy capacity.

Heating Exchanger

The energy transfer from the tank to the “load side” or the use water happens through a heat exchanger.

As a standard, we are utilizing a high-performance Nylon heat exchanger which allows for optimal heat transfer in a single pass.

If our customers or partners have different heat exchanger preferences or manufacture their own heat exchangers, they can easily be substituted.

Configuration Guide
  • Thermal Tank 350 gallon with a mid-size Heat Pump will provide 1,000 – 1,400 gallons of hot water, at 140°F
  • Thermal Tank 500 gallon with a mid-size Heat Pump will provide 1,300 – 2,000 gallons of hot water, at 140°F
  • Thermal Tank 700 gallon with a mid-size Heat Pump will provide 2,000 – 2,800 gallons of hot water, at 140°F
Applications
  • Storage element for thermal energy creates increased flexibility for when to charge and when to draw from the energy – the essential core of all our solutions.
  • Pre-heating of water for an existing Boiler or Instant Water Heater – your existing system can remain in place as a contingency or to “top off” the desired water temperature. The preheating function of the Thermal Tank allows you to scale back your equipment and extend its life cycle.
  • The Thermal Tank can store hot water up to 180°F. The recommended range is 110-140°F. It can also store chilled water up to x degrees F. A future version currently under development will allow for ice storage with phase change capabilities.
  • Dual use option: we have proposed a multi-tank array for a hotel, which doubled up as hot water storage and fire mitigation cistern.
