Thermal Tank + Heat Pump Solution

Thermal Tank Plus Air to Liquid Heat Pump is a perfect match, with each one optimizing the benefits of the other. A Heat Pump alone can already bring down the amount of electricity needed for water heating by up to 75%. The availability of thermal storage capacity allows for the operation of the heat pump during low cost time intervals to “charge the thermal battery” and utilize the hot water whenever it is needed without paying peak electricity rates. Following the same principle, we can help our clients lower demand charges for peak power usage by ensuring the heat pump does not operate at the same time as other key electrical components.

Thermal Tank

Our Thermal Tank is available in multiple sizes, and if needed, multiple tanks can be combined into a connected set. This ensures that the available capacity can always meet the demand. The tank operates with a working fluid (water), which is being heated with the heat pump. The energy is transferred to the “usage water” via a high-performance heat exchanger. The components of the tank are non-corrosive for an operating life that exceeds traditional tanks by up to 3x.

Heat Pump

The Heat Pump draws ambient energy from the environment and utilizes it to heat the water in the tank. Learn about: Ambient Energy Capture. By leveraging energy that is “available for free” in the surrounding air, the heat pump can work with less power than traditional electrical systems. The advantage is called the Coefficient of Power (COP). A COP of four indicates that for each unit of energy input (electricity), the heat pump generates four units of thermal output.

The heat pump can be activated whenever the temperature of the working fluid in the tank needs an energy boost. Through smart controls, we run the Heat Pump during intervals that avoid peak rates and peak power utilization times.

As the Heat Pump draws energy from the environment, it can provide additional cooling benefits, for example, for a very hot work area in a hotel laundry or the lobby of the hotel. The heat pump can be placed at a distance of up to 100 feet from the tank.
